Welding project; bicycle rack

Image
Part of the welding kit 3 years ago when we first moved into our current house, I decided to try my hands on new tools and skills. One of them was to get into welding projects. I was totally new to this but its one of those things that I always wanted to do. I bought a gasless MIG kit (some call it fluxcore welding) and all the bits and pieces. The total came to less than RM600 if I remember correctly.

Car camping spot in Tanjung Malim

Image
There are so many new car camping spots now. One car camping site we do enjoy going to is Tok Bak in Tanjung Malim. Tanjung Malim isn't too far from KL and there are some pretty good food in the town as well. More than that, Tok Bak campsite has a good river and reasonable toilet for use. We recently went there car camping, here are some photos o share.

That jungle bushcraft experience

Image
A jungle fire simply a must Many years ago, I started following this thing called 'bushcraft'. Having watched too many episodes of Ray Mear's bushcraft series, I would sometimes try to start a fire in the jungle usin a bow drill! Like many things, I eventually grew out of it. Bushcraft became repetitive. Its usually revolves around the main same topics....shelter, fire and knives. These 'topics' are the basics of any jungle trip. Just a matter of how hard you want it to be.

2D1N wild camping with JC

Image
Exploring a new wild camping spot with JC It was the Deepavali weekend and we decided to explore this new area for a quick 2D1N wild camping just outside of Kuala Lumpur. It was just me and JC. M can't make it last minute due to family commitments. I have been on many camping trips with JC and safe to say we are comfortable with each other's company. When exploring new place, best to keep the members to those that you are familiar with.

Sewing load panel for Mystery Ranch Nice Frame

Image
A decommissioned Mystery Nice frame from Australian army I picked up this decommissioned Mystery Ranch (MR) nice some years back on ebay Australia. I believe it is from the Australian army. It is in really bad shape. There were straps missing, buckles busted and the entire pack has obviously been used a LOT. While waiting for the parangs from Sarawak Old Man to arrive, I thought's I would spend some time sewing up a load carrier for this pack (MR calls it the load sling).

This Sarawak's OldMan on Youtube

Image
Look him up on Youtube I recently stumbled upon a new channel on Youtube called Sarawak's OldMan while searching for more information on Parangs. I have and probably will always be a parang only person . In particular parangs from Sarawak. After watching two videos he posted about local Sarawak parangs, it is safe to say that I was impressed. Impressed enough to reach out to him and see if he is willing to help me get some parangs.

Learning to use a welding machine

Image
The worldview kind of changes once you learn to weld Yes, I bought a welding machine and have been learning to do basic welding stuff for our own use. Welding is something I have always wanted to try. With wood you can use string, glue, nails and screws. But when it comes to metal the one sure way (to me at least) is welding. I have seen people to welding work and some amazing daily things that requires welding. Learning to weld opens up a whole new world of possibility.
