Car camping spot in Tanjung Malim

There are so many new car camping spots now. One car camping site we do enjoy going to is Tok Bak in Tanjung Malim. Tanjung Malim isn't too far from KL and there are some pretty good food in the town as well. More than that, Tok Bak campsite has a good river and reasonable toilet for use. We recently went there car camping, here are some photos o share.

It seems like every time we want to go car camping, we always end up at car camping spot Tok Bak. There are just too many things right with this place that we have not been convinced to go elsewhere. This is Tok Bak campsite location. It really is near to Tanjung Malim town itself and the road towards the orang asli village would take you through the Proton City area as well.

Tok Bak Campsite accessibility

Our simple setup

We drive our old trusty Toyota Prado each time we go camping. Probably about the last 1 or 2 km of the road from the orang asli village is gravel and soil. The campsite owner has invested in gravel and event some parts with concrete to make the road accesible to most cars. In the past, we have seen even Alphards and old Proton Saga making it in all the way. The only one time we saw a vehicle had to turn around was a motor home (which I personally think is one of the most ridiculous thing to own and use in Malaysia).

We saw this amazing vehicle during this recent trip

This old Nissan Sunny made it as well

What to like about car camping spot Tok Bak

Tok Bak river is nice

The river by Tok Bak campsite is nice. The water during this visit was a bit murky as it has been raining a bit. There are sections upper and lower this river that is very deep. The campsite owner has put up signs to warn people. Surprisingly, we saw people going up and down the river in PFDs. Which is amazing responsible and a definite good thing to see.

Another reason I liked about Tok Bak was the privacy. But unfortunately this time around, we had people turning up later in the evening (of the Saturday) and putting up tents just a few meters away from us. We can hear them talk and even smell the cheap perfume the females use after their shower. I go camping for quiet time. This felt a bit like pasar malam.

Tok Bak owner himself is a nice chap. His brother owns the campsite connected to this site, up the river. We actually booked a campsite with Tok Bak's brother a few months before. Only to be told there was a miscommunication. He offered us an alternative...the upper most campsite which really pissed JC off (which made him decide not to come after all). So, I ended up calling Tok Bak and luckily he had our usual spot available.

Is this the best car camping spot in Tanjung Malim?

Tok Bak is probably the best (so far) car camping spot for us in Tanjung Malim. We have visited a few others but Tok Bak is ok so far. What would make it better? Definitelly allowing for more privacy for campers Dont allow last minute turn ups and keep a space of a few meters away from each camping group. Not all campers want that 'village' feeling. I know I don't.
