Some time ago, Meun insisted that we try a place known for good Hakka noodles in Puchong. Between the both of us, she is the one that is more interested and adventurous about food. From friend's recommendation to something stumbled on social media, she is willing to give it a try. Good food is important to her.

Restoran May Shaw offers a really good hearty bowl of Hakka noodle |
It is very hard to convince me to go for noodles of any kind. To me...most are meeeh...nothing that shout about. But if there is one thing I learn after all these years, is that Meun now knows what sort of food I would favor and what wouldn't. I enjoy food that has strong tastes or flavor. My go to food is always mixed rice or chap fan. So, when she suggested we try this Hakka noodle, I was hesitant... really hesitant.

Strictly from its name, I assume this style and version of noodles has its roots to the Hakka clan. The noodles are like normal wan tan mee but the gravy and the condiments that accompanies the noodles are what makes this bowl surprisingly good. The portions had me smiling. How I eat it is by mixing it all together and then eat. The mix of taste and flavor is really good. So good that each time we go, I am so tempted to order another bowl. For a non-noodle person like myself, this is a good sign. Then again, its not just about the bowl of Hakka noodles. The coffee is good and they really don't stinge on the pickled chilies and sambal. Not only that, they even have pepper shaker for their customers! How awesome is that!

Puchong Hakka noodles; conclusion
This Hakka noodle in Puchong made it into my good books. The food and drinks are good. A simple shop lot in an industrial area without all the fancy looks of a modern restaurant. This shop caters to the workers in the area and they would have probably been operating there for many many years. The sort of shop that suits me very well but would probably make a yuppie cringe. So, the next time you are looking for good Hakka noodles in Puchong, make your way to Restoran May Shaw.
